January 2024

Mindi Trout, Clinical Manager at Summit Hospice
Now in our 11th year, we are seeing more and more people who are nominated multiple times. Our January winner was such a person.
I reached out to both nominators to make arrangements to honor and recognize Mindi Trout of Summit Hospice. Plans were all set, the basket had been picked up and I was planning to head over when Kyle texted and asked if we could postpone. Sometimes COVID or the flu or really bad colds cycle through offices, meaning that many people would be out sick. So, we had to postpone honoring Mindi until this month.
Regardless, when we were able to make this happen for Mindi, there were so many people there to support her and cheer for her as she received her reward. She was surprised, delighted, embarrassed, and humbled.
Here is what Kyle Willis and Angie Corbett had to say about Mindi:
"Mindi goes above and beyond every day for our patients. She is a true example of what a Hospice nurse is and does. Her loving and kind, compassionate nature truly shows with our patients and their families. Mindi will take extra time with families and patients ensuring they understand the disease process along with how to care for someone who is dying. Mindi works long hours of the day and night and not once have I ever heard her complain. She loves her job and loves her patients and families.
I am nominating Mindi because she consistently goes above and beyond for our patients and our staff. If a family is in distress she stays until they are comfortable. She is compassionate and she is always willing to help. She recently went out on a Friday evening when I called her to tell her a family was in distress, she was not on call but spoke with our doctor and then went to stay with the family until they were comfortable. She is always smiling, always willing to help. She is the best!"
Congratulations Mindi. You truly exemplify what it means to be a Hospice Caregiver.
If you know someone like Mindi who deserves recognition as an amazing caregiver, please nominate them here on our website. It takes just a few minutes to tell their story.
