Kendra Lambert, Volunteer Services Manager at Bella Care Hospice
I have had the wonderful privilege of working with and spending time with volunteer services managers from across multiple hospices. These are some of the most dedicated and hardworking folks I have had the honor to know. And, as it turns out, one of them was nominated for the Hospice Caregiver Award this year (many have been nominated over the last decade). When I called Michelle Dooley, hospice liaion, to let her know that Kendra had been selected, she was absolutely delighted.
Kendra spends much time away from the office, meeting with volunteers and supporting their training so it was difficult to find a time to surprise her. We managed to get something scheduled and surprised an unsuspecting Kendra in front of a group of her peers.
Here is what Michelle had to say about Kendra:
"Good morning, I wish to nominate Kendra Lambert, Bella Care Hospices Volunteer Coordinator. Kendra has been with Bella Care for what is soon to be five years. The passion and drive Kendra has to ensure our patients receive an amazing volunteer if they so desire is incredible. Kendra is second to none that I have ever worked with over the past 20+ years. Kendra spends countless hours throughout her days and nights to meet with potential volunteers. She does this to make it convenient for them, to train them, to introduce them to the facilities and patients. I know this has made a tremendous impact on our volunteer program. This has allowed her to grow the Bella Care volunteer department despite continued COVID outbreaks in facilities that we serve. Kendra has initiated a birthday program, she makes everyone aware at the beginning of month what patients have birthdays on what day and comes up with a plan to ensure every birthday is celebrated. As minor as that may sound, the reality is that in our busy day-to-day work life we are often reactive to a patient’s needs. What Kendra does ensures that regardless of whatever might be happening in our day a patient’s birthday could not be forgotten. What Kendra initiated since starting at Bella Care Hospice ensures our patients very special last birthday is truly celebrated. Kendra has a kind and gentle disposition; she is truly a beautiful reflection of the Lord she serves. This is evident in everything that she does."
Congratulations Kendra. You truly exemplify what it means to be a Hospice Caregiver.
If you know someone like Kendra who deserves recognition as an amazing caregiver, please nominate them here on our website. It takes just a few minutes to tell their story.
