Kaitlyn Bowling, Hospice STNA at Suncrest Hospice
Kaitlyn was actually nominated while she worked for another hospice. But at the time she was selected as the monthly winner, she had moved to Suncrest Hospice. Suncrest is not new to learning that someone on their team had been nominated for the award, so when I called to let them know that Kaitlyn had been selected, they knew exactly what to do.
As a matter of fact, they were already planning to have their office Christmas party when I called. So they invited me to come and celebrate with them while we honored and celebrated Kaitlyn.
She was incredibly surprised to be nominated, recognized, and honored as an amazing hospice caregiver.
Kaitlyn’s husband nominated her and here is what he had to say:
Kaitlyn is my wife. She has been in healthcare since we graduated high school, except for 10 months. I'm nominating her because her bravery and courage to run toward the fight has saved more than one life. She has seen fatal car accidents that she's saved other lives from, saved strangers in parking lots from overdosing, and taken care of our own child when she was diagnosed with cancer. She has cried for people she's never met and been there with many people in their final moments. She may doubt her calling from time to time, even going as far as to leave the field just to try something new, but she has found out just how much the people she takes care of mean to her. She is meant to be here and makes it her mission to learn as much as she can about people, from all walks of life to better care for them.
Congratulations, Kaitlyn. You truly exemplify what it means to be a hospice caregiver.
