J'Me Vandivier, RN Case Manager at Capital City Hospice
In all the years that we have been honoring amazing hospice caregivers throughout our Central Ohio community, I rarely ever hear negative comments about hospice. usually is is about the family not employing hospice early enough before a loved one passed away. That means that there are hundreds of hospice staff and volunteers in our community who do amazing things for the families they serve. J'Me Vandivier is no exception.
When we arrived to surprise J'Me in front of a group of her peers, they all were so excited for her because they knew she was so deserving of the honor and recognition.
Nominated by Wendy Olinski, here is what she had to say about J'Me:
J'Me is the most dedicated nurse that I have ever met, and I really mean that. She is always helping her team by beiing a leader. She provides consult to other nurses, completes all the aide visits when her aide is on PTO, and never leaves something for tomorrow if it must be done today. I can not even imagine how exhausted she must feel after doing all her nursing visits, aide visits, having constant interruptions by facility/family/office requests for patients not being seen that day, and then waiting for comfort meds at a pharmacy for 2 hours for a patient whose death was imminent (charting away as to not waste even a moment). Would you believe me if I told you I was sharing how her TODAY went? Well, I am, and this is not out of the ordinary for her. I know the patients and their families appreciate her and hope that her family forgives her for getting home so late.
Congratulations J'Me. You truly exemplify what it means to be a Hospice Caregiver.
